  • The Digital and Green Innovation Action (DGI) is a Team Europe initiative uniting the European Union, Germany, France, Belgium, Estonia and the Netherlands. It is designed to accelerate digital and green innovation in Africa, Asia and Latin America. DGI offers tailored support to innovators, facilitates stakeholder events, and organizes targeted finance matchmaking to foster collaboration and investment.

At the East African Carbon Markets Forum DGI will kick off their Stakeholder Event Series. These dialogues will tackle the key regulatory and financing challenges faced by innovators looking to leverage carbon finance in East Africa. The ultimate goal is to bring together policymakers, innovation hubs, and private sector actors to co-develop actionable strategies that unlock innovation, align with climate goals, and build stronger partnerships.

  • Kazinga Hall, lower ground floor

  • Workshop leads Natasha Kalanda, Manager, and Claire Willers, Senior Manager, Market Relations at Gold Standard

  • Trees for the Future (TREES), an agroforestry and farmer centric nonprofit, has been implementing the Lake Victoria Watershed Agroforestry Carbon Project (LV Carbon) in Kenya since 2020, using Verra Methodology VM0042. The project is currently under validation. Earlier this year TREES began implementing the LV Carbon 2 project in Uganda using VM0047, incorporating rich best practices from our Kenya work. LV carbon projects are unique as they are implemented with smallholder farmers on privately owned land of less than 2 hectares.

Through our work with 18,000 farmers in Kenya, TREES developed a number of key farmer engagement innovations that are both integral to the project's success as well as ensure effective and responsible engagement with local stakeholders. TREES teams from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will host a lively and hands on workshop highlighting innovations that you may want to consider in future project implementation with smallholder farmers.

  • Workshop lead Mark Huelsenbeck, CEO of Impact Water
